The Goddess Chang'e flew to the moon

Once upon a time, there were ten suns in the sky. They made plants wither, water in rivers and lakes run dry. It's too hot to live on the earth.

A young man named Houyi was good at shooting. He felt pity for the people and decided to save them. So he took out his bow and shot down nine of the suns and left one in the sky.

Houyi thus was respected and honored by people as a hero. Lots of people came to learn shooting from Houyi, but one of them was a bad guy. His name is Pengmeng.

Houyi later married a pretty lady called Chang'e and lived a happy life with her.

One day on his way to a friend's home in the Kunlun Mountain, Houyi came across the Heavenly Empress. Houyi loved his wife deeply and wanted to be with her forever, so he asked the Heavely Empress to give him some elixir. The Heavenly Empress was moved by Houyi's contribution and gave him one. The drug was said very powerful, and when people took it, he could fly to the heaven and became an immortal immediately. But it was only enough for one person. Houyi could not leave Chang'e, thus gave her the elixir for safekeeping.

Chang'e stored it carefully in a wooden box but her action was found by Pengmeng.

Three days later, Houyi led his students to go out for hunting, but Pengmeng wanted to steal the elixir and he stayed at home.

As soon as Houyi left his house, Pengmeng went to Chang'e's house and forced her to give him the elixir.

Chang'e knew she couldn't fight Pemgmeng, so she swallowed the elixir, then her body became light and she flew out a window up to the moon.

When Houyi returned home , he was astonished, and decided to kill the evil man . But Pengmeng ran away .

Chang'e has lived on the moon since ever. She missed her hu***and Houyi, and never forgot the deep love she had for him.

When there was a full moon, Houyi set a table with incense, meats and fruits that Chang'e loved to honor her.
